New York Wine Sales Representative Job at La Grenouille Wine Imports, New York, NY

  • La Grenouille Wine Imports
  • New York, NY

Job Description

New York Wine Sales Representative
12% Uncapped Commission | Existing Accounts | Potential for Leadership Role

La Grenouille Wine Imports is an independent importer and distributor founded in 2014, with direct distribution in New York and California. We work with a tightly edited portfolio of independent, family-owned estates, centered on France and including several benchmark producers. We choose wines for their sense of place, individual character, and the people behind them. The portfolio is varied in style, but each wine has a clear identity and earns its place.

We are expanding our New York division and looking for two experienced wine sales professionals to join our existing team, develop the market, and help shape the next stage of our growth in New York. This is a flexible, commission-based position for someone who already knows the New York wine market, has deep knowledge of French and European wine, and wants to develop a meaningful book of business.

Candidates may already represent a compatible portfolio or have another role within the wine, restaurant, or retail trade. For the right candidate, there is potential for the role to evolve into broader coordination or leadership responsibilities as the New York division develops, with compensation adjusted accordingly.

What We OfferALL 12% uncapped commission on shipped orders
An established New York business and existing customer base
Opportunities to take over and grow existing accounts while developing new ones
Additional bonuses and targeted sales incentives
Flexible schedule and ability to set personal workflow
Compatible outside work or portfolios permitted
More than $500,000 in current inventory
A focused portfolio spanning a broad range of French regions, styles, and price points, as well as two compelling Spanish producers
Direct access to company ownership and, when appropriate, our producers
Producer visits, tastings, trade events, and ongoing portfolio support

The sales role is commission-based and does not include a standard base salary. If the role expands to include defined coordination, leadership, or other team responsibilities, a separate fixed compensation arrangement may be considered.

The Role
Manage and grow an assigned group of existing New York accounts
Develop new restaurant, wine bar, and independent retail accounts
Present wines to buyers and conduct tastings and staff education when appropriate
Build placements into consistent, repeat business through strong follow-up and account management
Represent the portfolio thoughtfully and communicate not only the details of the wine, but what makes it distinctive
Work independently while communicating closely with our New York team regarding opportunities, account activity, and market feedback
Contribute positively to the collaborative, relationship-driven culture of the company

Who We're Looking For
Deep knowledge of French and European wine is required, formal certifications are not
Previous experience in the New York wine trade is strongly preferred
Existing relationships within New York restaurants, retail stores, wine bars, and the broader hospitality community are a significant advantage
Candidates should be comfortable discussing regions, appellations, producers, farming, winemaking, vintages, and styles with knowledgeable buyers
We value curiosity and an open mind, along with the ability to understand producers on their own terms
You should be self-motivated, commercially minded, organized, and comfortable developing business independently
Strong follow-through and the ability to build long-term customer relationships are essential

Interested?

Please send us your resume along with a short introduction describing:
Your experience in the New York wine market
The areas and types of accounts you know best
Your background with French and European wine
What you are currently doing professionally
How this opportunity could fit alongside your existing work

If this sounds like the right fit, we'd be glad to hear from you.
